For over two and half decades, Iowans have come to The Java House to experience a quality cup of coffee, find the perfect reading nook, or sip sweet iced tea over brunch. After spending more than 20 years crafting the perfect cup of coffee- we decided it was time for something more. We decided to go to the source.

The Start of Java House Coffee Roasters

In 2016, The Java House moved its headquarters into a 12,000 square foot facility located in North Liberty, Iowa. The following year, our team roasted its first batch of coffee and Java House Coffee Roasters was born! Since then, our team of knowledgeable and educated roasters have been roasting high quality and unique coffees on a weekly basis. Our frequent roasting schedule ensures we always have the freshest coffee available, and enables us to introduce new exciting single origin coffees regularly.

Partnering with a handful of select coffee growers, we import the highest quality beans from all over the world and roast them to perfection at our small batch facility. We roast more than 150+ different kinds of coffee a year. Each coffee goes through in-depth cupping, which is a fancy word for taste testing, and flavor profiling before they are ready for brewing. Our roasters put incredible amounts of time, skill and love into each batch that goes out of our doors and our loyal guests have come to expect the best coffee in state from us.

The Java House has won several awards for the coffee and experience our cafés offer. In 2019 the CRANDIC named us Best Coffeehouse in Iowa City, and in 2020 we were named in the Best Coffee Category for Best of Area in the Press-Citizen!
